YELLOW IS FORBIDDEN is a modern day Cinderella story where the brave, diminutive and daring heroine’s dream doesn’t end at the ball. Guo Pei is chasing every designer’s fantasy – to become part of the exclusive yet savage world of Haute Couture.
It’s an unprecedented story, taking the viewer inside the world where Guo Pei creates magic: a 50kg dress so heavy Guo Pei has to consider a gymnast not a model to walk the runway, a gown spun by 300 embroiderers, precious gold material printed with centuries-old Swiss fresco. All from a woman who learnt her craft at Number 2 Light Industrial School after the reign of Mao Tse Tung.
THE NIGHT EATS THE WORLD
31st May France 84mins MA
Based on the novel by Pit Argarmen, NIGHT EATS THE WORLD follows Sam (Anders Danielsen Lie) who turns up at his ex-girlfriend’s place during a raucous party to claim some personal belongings he accidentally left behind. To avoid sparking a bitter confrontation, he locks himself in a back room while getting things in order, and falls asleep in the process. When he wakes up, the party has turned into a bloodbath and the world beyond the apartment is looking similarly messy. Is there anyone out there like him? Or will he be consumed by his own insanity, if not by zombies? Hailed as one of the most inventive horror-thrillers in years.
