One of the most humbling moments of 2024 was being honoured as Best Regional Cinema in Australia by the distributors attending the Australian International Movie Convention. This recognition is not only a reflection of our dedicated team but also of the vibrant, passionate audience that fills our cinema, sparking life into every screening. It’s a celebration of all of you—our audience, our community—and it’s a moment we will delight in for some time.

This year has been filled with unforgettable events that have become a part of our story. Who could forget the surprise Q&A with Julian Assange’s father? It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that ignited meaningful conversations and left us all deeply moved. Hosting MIFF Roadshow was another standout, bringing world-class cinema to Geelong and highlighting the enthusiasm for culture in our region. The inaugural Geelong Design Week brought sold-out screenings, and the Geelong Pride Film Festival kicked off with its signature energy and flair.

Our advanced screenings, Q&As and fundraisers remain the heart and soul of what makes Pivot Cinema so special. The incredible support from our local community continues to prove that storytelling is alive and well. There’s nothing quite like witnessing the power of the silver screen to spark conversation and inspire connection.

I’d also like to extend a special thank you to those who chose Pivot Cinema for your private events this year. Whether it was a birthday, a corporate gathering, or something uniquely yours, it was an honour to be part of your celebrations and milestones.

I’d also like to extend a huge thank you to our incredible sponsors—Blackman’s Brewery, Great Ocean Road Gin, and our devoted partners Lethbridge Wines—for helping to keep our patrons lubricated and ensuring that the Pivot machine continues to run smoothly. We’re proud to support local businesses, and it’s clear our community shares the same passion for supporting each other.

To everyone who purchased a ticket, attended a screening or Q&A, or simply shared a quiet moment watching the credits roll—thank you. You are the heart of Pivot Cinema, and we wouldn’t be here without you.

As we look ahead to 2025, I’m excited for all the stories yet to be told, the new connections to be made, and the movie magic that awaits. ✨

With heartfelt gratitude,
Jessica Litsas
